Lyme Arthritis Mystery Unfolds in Connecticut Townships
Dozens of cases in Lyme, Old Lyme, and East Haddam suggest a previously unknown arthritis linked to a bite from an arthropod. Yale doctors, led by Drs Steere and Malawista, traced 51 confirmed cases affecting 39 children and 12 adults, mainly in warm months, with recurring knee swelling and disability but no permanent joint damage.
