AGVA Faces Feb Ruling Over Reno Strike
A UPI report notes a February ruling on whether the American Guild of Variety Artists violated Taft Hartley act secondary boycott rules during a Reno musicians strike. Hearing examiner James Webster, San Francisco, presided after Charles Peterson of the National Association of Orchestra Leaders filed the case. The dispute centers on whether bandleaders or casinos employed the musicians as the strike unfolded. During the strike AGVA told members not to perform without live music.
