Businessmen urge Las Vegas to kill health fee ordinance

A group of 39 Las Vegas businessmen and one woman voted unanimously to urge the City Commission to kill the proposed health fee ordinance. The measure would fund inspections by the District Board of Health to protect tourists and residents from infected or polluted food and drink. The ordinance has been approved in North Las Vegas and may spread districtwide. The meeting in the Flamingo hotel heard from Dr. Otto Ravenholt on inspection staffing and revenue projections, with plans to add more sanitarians.
