The head of the state Board of Equalization Jack Hunter warns that approving a constitutional amendment phasing out the inventory tax would largely hurt homeowners and wage earners while benefiting big business. He projects a nearly seven million dollar annual revenue loss prompting possible higher sales taxes or altered assessment formulas raising homeowner and rancher taxes. Hunter cites long term local budget strains and urges voters to consider the impact ahead of the November 1978 vote.
