Democrats Attack $6 Billion Oil Giveaway Energy Bill
Several House Democrats, led by Rep. John Dingell, condemn a Senate conference addition of about 6 billion dollars for federal loan guarantees to spur synthetic fuels. They argue no hearings were held and warn of a giveaway to oil and gas pipeline companies. Supporters claim urgent energy decisions and incentives are needed to develop new energy sources. The Senate may vote first on the conference version, possibly Tuesday.
