Senate funds at risk for Nevada education libraries

Nevada faces a potential loss of 83 million in federal education and library funds if the Senate approves the administration budget. The July 31 House vote would increase Nixon’s budget to 4.2 billion, surpassing 1968 levels, with large cuts in elementary and secondary education, higher education, vocational training, libraries, and school aid. If sustained, Nevada could buy 5 000 fewer books, and regional library construction and outreach programs would be severely affected. The National Citizens Committee to Save Education and Library Funds urges voters to contact Senators in favor of restoring full House-backed allocations.
