Searchlight’s Return to Glory Part 1
The desert town of Searchlight 55 miles from Las Vegas is poised for a 1969 ribbon cutting and a highway boom. A new US 66 route via US 68 will bring Route 66 traffic, boosting inns and gas stations and aiming to lift the population toward its early 1900s peak. The plan foresees $1 million in added annual revenue from tourists who stop for gas meals and lodging.
