Juarez 1384 earns a majority decision over Bobby Allen in a 10 round bout at the Silver Slipper Ballroom. The fast paced fight had no knockdowns and featured strong late rallying by Juarez as both Las Vegas fighters exchanged solid punches.
A boxing card saw Juarez win a close majority decision over Allen after a back and forth duel. Allen scored a knockdown in the seventh, Juarez recovered and controlled the late rounds while judges favored Juarez 47-44, 46-44, and 46-46. Henderson’s Sonny King returned with a six round win over Sammy Waite, as Shelly Lyons edged Polo Corona in a rough five round crossfire.
In Atlanta, the Falcons held a 7-6 halftime lead and forced three Sam Baker field goals to stay within 9-7 of the Eagles. Dennis Claridge connected for a first-half touchdown with Tom Wilson, while Timmy Brown totaled 98 rushing yards for Philadelphia. Falcons defender Ron Smith sparked late drama with a 42-yard punt return and two interceptions.
The New York Jets add Johnny Sample a 29 year old backfield defender from Maryland State with past NFL honors. He will join the Jets defense at left cornerback and play in Saturdays intra squad game in Jersey City.

New York UPI report says Bob Priddy pitched eight innings of shutout relief to lead the San Francisco Giants to a victory over the New York Mets. The Giants broke open the game in late innings, sealing the win with strong pitching and timely hits.
Las Vegas Club wins 6-5 over State Farm to take game one of the Pee Wee World Series at Lions Club Park. Ten batters in the third inning fueled the rally aided by four Giants errors as LV Club goes undefeated in the regular season.
