Oats Grow On Desert Ranch Without Irrigation

Las Vegas Oats on the old Ranch Las Vegas Mercantile Co. report 30 acres of oats with an average height over five feet and large full heads. The crop was grown without irrigation and samples brought to town by E. T. Maxwell surprised locals familiar with desert cultivation.

Plans for Salt Lake railroad reconstruction approved

Reconstructed plans for over eighty miles of track in Meadow Valley wash approved and turned to Chief Engineer E G Tilton for construction. Tilton's plan calls for elevating the line, using steel bridges, and rock riprap along exposed roadbed. Estimated cost about 750000 dollars.

Light verdict in Goldfield murder case reaches verdicts

The jury found Preston guilty of murder in the first degree with a penalty of ten years to life, and Smith guilty of voluntary manslaughter with a sentence from one to ten years.
