County plans a new building at the Poor Farm with immediate start. Wm J Stewart says the project will be done by day labor, costing about 3000 to 4000 dollars, with J P King, County Road Supervisor, in charge. He notes finances delayed the plan but this improvement will enhance county facilities and provide better warmth and food for residents.
Travelers report rumors of a dangerous desert drive from St. George to Las Vegas. An arriving tourist believed 200 miles of desert lay ahead upgrade, but locals say the road is in good shape with water available at frequent intervals every 25 miles. Washington County News notes misinformation about the route and confirms the desert segment is manageable.
June set a county record for marriage licenses with 30 issued so far by the County Clerk’s office, two days remaining. Licenses awarded midweek include Gipson-LaConne Roy M. 40 of Yermo and Alyce 26 of Las Vegas. Cannard-Griffin Louis J. 57 and Josephine 51 of Long Beach. both pairs married by Justice of the Peace P. H. Springer.
Linna M. Hotaling filed for divorce from James C. Hotaling in San Diego citing cruelty. The complaint alleges he hurled a heavy weight at her nearly striking her, a punch in the face, frequent absences at night, threats, and cursing. Richard Busteed served as attorney of record for Mrs. Hotaling.
In Darlington Durham on June 28 AP reports a passenger train collided with a freight train. Twenty people were killed and many injured. The disaster is extensive and feared death toll may rise.
Thea Rasche and crew escaped unharmed when the plane North Star failed to lift off at Cap de la Madeleine Quebec during a test flight loaded with 400 gallons. The aircraft ran into brush at the field’s end but sustained no serious damage. The mission aimed at a non stop flight to Berlin.
Carlton W Jennings says wife Mary refused to allow proper medical treatment for their epileptic 7 year old. He says he took the child South for care with family funds, while she opposed. The couple, married in Philadelphia in 1920, have two girls ages 3 and 7. Jennings claims his wife had a violent temper and uncontrolled jealousy. Attorney A A Hinman represented Jennings. Jennings sued Mrs Jennings for divorce in district court. In Rome, Umberto Nobile will direct the Italia rescue from the air. his condition is satisfactory and he will participate in the search.
Word reached Goldfield that Al Cameron, a longtime local miner, died at 8 yesterday morning at Case Hot Springs in Inyo county. He reportedly fell into a deep mud bath and was scalded. He leaves a brother in Washington state as the only known survivor. Jack Alyward departed Goldfield for Case Springs after the news.
Victor Barndt returned from the east with Joe H. Shockley to examine the old Morey district for clients. Barndt said Fred Bradley interests of San Francisco planned a complete chemical and metallurgical survey of Southern Nevada tied to Boulder Canyon dam to utilize power from the project.

William B Baldwin was granted a decree of divorce from Lida B Baldwin by Judge Wm E Orr after 45 years of marriage. The couple had remarried July 3 1925 after a prior divorce, urged by Ward's mother for the children sake. Ward to pay $50 monthly child maintenance and retain reasonable visitation.
Alfred Fronval, famed French stunt flyer known for a world loop record of eleven hundred loops, died when his plane collided with another during a landing in Paris. The accident occurred while Fronval was performing a routine maneuver.
A valley wide Picnic sponsored by the Moapa Valley Farm Bureau drew many local families to share lunches and enjoy a short program. Speakers included Bert Wills George Hardman Mrs Frank Buol and Mrs S A Way mire.
