Robins Crush Cardinals 16 to 5 in National League
Brooklyn Robins rout St Louis 16 to 5 as Hollis Thurston quieted the Cardinals after a rough first inning. Johnny Frederick and Lefty O'Doul powered the attack with four hits and two homers among them, while Burleigh Grimes was tagged for eight early runs. The win tightens Brooklyn's grip on the league elite as St Louis slips further from pace. Other NL results show New York edging Cincinnati 2–0 on Bill Walker's four-hit effort, and Philadelphia battering Pittsburgh 13–2 behind 18 hits. In the American League, Boston and Chicago split, Philadelphia hammered Pittsburgh, and Washington fell to Chicago 4–3, widening Philadelphia's lead.
