Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce discusses a Union Pacific proposal to add a dining room to the new depot project. Union Pacific says no dining room unless community funds cover it, citing no profit motive. Local opponents warn of harming existing restaurants while service clubs weigh alternative meeting sites.
The local Junior Chamber of Commerce under President Frank McNamee Jr outlines plans for the district convention set for April 7 to 10. Bob Ritter as general convention chairman presents the agenda with John F Cahlan presiding on opening day and James H Down Jr assisting.
A L A Delkin told the city board Tuesday evening he offers use of the Ladd swimming pool on Fremont Street as a municipal pool under the recreation board. The plan calls for sanitary improvements and free swimming for children with a nominal adult fee. Funds from Mermaid pool lease efforts at 3000 dollars will be fully returned.

The club urged Union Pacific to add a dining room in its new depot for banquets and service club meetings.
K. O. Knudson, Las Vegas school principal, arrived in Carson City to help revise the official Nevada course of study. He travels with his daughter Barbara Ann.
The Board of County Commissioners fixed the deer open season from October 15 to October 30 and the valley quail season from October 1 to October 15. No pheasant season was set due to stock efforts in Moapa Valley.
Engineer states the new underpass taking Clark avenue between Las Vegas proper and Westside under the Union Pacific tracks will open for traffic July 24 with work continuing after that date. He hopes the Salt Lake highway section under reconstruction may open between Las Vegas city limits and the WAE airport by this week’s Saturday. The segment between the airport and Apex will take several months to complete.
Alice Thayer and Charles Doherty, children of Mrs. Cc. C. Boyer of Ely, were shaken and slightly injured when a Studebaker tire blew and rolled over on the Proche Ely highway north of Geyser's ranch last Friday. Bud Doherty was thrown clear, cut on the head and unconscious. Thayer sustained back injuries but escaped with minor damage. They were taken to Pioche and later to Las Vegas where Thayer recovered before returning to work.
Mr and Ryland Taylor have leased the Mildren lodge at Deer Creek for the summer, establishing their seasonal residence and operations. The arrangement anchors local lodging by the Taylors amid summer visitors.
