London July 20 An army marching on its stomach mirrors the navy whose fleet must be fed for peak performance. Madrid July 20 Queen Maria Christina Spain’s Dowager Queen receives many presents and greetings as she nears her sixtieth birthday tomorrow. The people and press in Madrid celebrate her long charity and devoted service to King Alfonso XIII and to Spain. Born July 21, 1858, she married Alfonso XII in 1879, became regent in 1885, and is beloved for her kindness and public acts.

Washington July 20 report shows 73 Marine casualties: 5 killed in action, 1 died of wounds, 1 died of disease, 42 wounded severely, 22 missing, 2 in enemy hands. South earners include Private John Farris of Houston severely wounded and Robert Campbell of Waco.
Paris reports German forces moved 110000 reserves to the crown prince's army. Allied gains southwest of Soissons were fortified after yesterday’s fighting. Washington confirms French corps captured 17000 prisoners and seized equipment and guns.
