Longtime Texas resident Jacob C. Mills known as Grandpa Mills died at 9 05 pm at his daughter's home in Laredo aged 89 He served in the Confederate army and as a state ranger later ran freighting to the Rio Grande region He is survived by his daughter Mrs T A Bunn of Laredo and two sons James and Forrest Mills of San Antonio remains to be sent to San Antonio for funeral and Confederate cemetery interment
The Laredo Legion Park hosts a four day international cowboy championship February 19 20 21 and 22 with broncho busting steer bulldogging steer riding bareback and other events. Top title holders from Cheyenne Pendleton Tucumcari and other western roundups will compete for thousands in cash prizes.
