Associated Press reports a Texas freeze showing wide temperature extremes from 4 degrees above zero at Amarillo to 82 above at Galveston. Dallas recorded a 10 degree above zero minimum, while Laredo saw 30 degrees above. Citrus and fruit growers say the freeze caused no crop injuries.
Reports from Houston and Tyler on Feb 7 describe a freezing spell reaching 26 degrees above zero in the citrus belt with no expected damage in Houston area orchards though tomatoes and cabbage killed. In Tyler the fruit crop was badly damaged with hundreds of thousands of tomato and cabbage plants destroyed.
Associated Press reports that federal capital feared a last night uprising. Troops guarded the palace arserol and artillery barricades throughout the night, but no sign of trouble occurred.

In Newark New Jersey on February 7 a veiled woman who shot Mrs Harriet Manning in her mother's house left only a revolver and a silk umbrella as clues. Mrs Manning's separated husband and another woman were detained, an Italian woman was later arrested, and investigators cited evidence that Hazel Herdman killed Mrs Manning amid a dispute involving Charles Manning.
