TEAPOT TEMPEST ALEXIS ROBERTSON ON WOMAN Delegate
The lone congresswoman Alice Robertson opposes appointing a woman delegate to the disarmament conference. She argues a candidate must know international law and diplomacy, speak French, and command social respect. The piece notes Robertson’s anti suffrage stance and calls for capable women with real qualifications over social standing. It highlights the need for a qualified American woman who can earn respect abroad.
