Holley Milling Co acquires Ogden Milling assets

The Holley Milling Company seals a deal to take over the Ogden Milling and Elevator Company, moving headquarters from Laramie to the Eccles Building in Ogden. C. F. Holley announces major office changes within two to three weeks and assigns Loveland, Colorado’s C. F. Mitchell to oversee local mills. Elevators will be built in northern Utah and southern Idaho to feed the two Ogden mills.

With most Fourth of July plans set, Albany County Cattle and Hover Growers' association officials await government approval for cavalry use. Black man slashes throat of Punk Corbin in street quarrel

At about three this afternoon at First and Thornburg streets William Jones, a Black man, hacked Punk Corbin’s throat from ear to ear following an argument over money. Corbin, a cook for Diamond Cattle Company, collapsed. Jones was captured nearby and jailed. Doctors treated Corbin’s severed jugular, but his fate remains unclear. Police chased Jones, who surrendered without further incident.

May uncover German plot in Midwest

St Louis report says Edward Brownan, DOJ agent, began an inquiry into possible German plotting operations in the Midwest. Francis Miller, former Commercial Acid Co. employee in St Louis, was arrested after repeated calls and suspected intent to trigger an explosion. An Austrian Red Cross insignia was found on Miller.

Marshal Davidson Orders Red Light District Closed by July First

City officials moved to shutter the red light district after Marshal Frank Davidson notified houses to remove the girls and cease operations by July 1. Mayor Holliday backed the plan, promising enforcement of the city ordinance and possible police and out of town detectives to prosecute violators. The health committee’s report defers to the ordinance Rec. 38, outlining penalties of 18 to 50 dollars per offense.
