Driggs Indicted by Federal Grand Jury in Brooklyn

New York June 25 Congress man Driggs was indicted by the federal grand jury in Brooklyn. Four indictments allege he received $500 from Brandt Dent company to secure a government contract for 260 automatic cashiers for the Post Office Department. He pleaded not guilty to the first two counts, saying work was done before swearing in but after election. He previously admitted a $12,500 salary from Brandt Dent for introducing its machines.

Concessions in English Debates on Irish Land Bill

London June 25 The house of commons resumed debate on the Irish land bill with Mr Wyndham introducing an amendment to remove difficulty over a minimum price for tenant purchases and allow bargains outside judicial zones. New York June 26 The regular monthly meeting of the Colorado Fuel and Iron company board of directors at 71 Broadway New York 3 30 p m June 24 saw Mr Osgood resign as chairman of the board and as a director. Jerome Casa and another director also resigned with McClement named chairman. Gates Rockefeller Jr and Parmeter Prentice were elected to fill vacancies on the board and executive committee. A preliminary inquiry into a paper default on the 15th found blame due to a misunderstanding between New York and Denver offices and the board exonerated officers and clerks.
