In Laramie the red light district future hangs on a council vote after a public call to action. Officials say Cheyenne arrivals and local activity threaten the city, and residents must voice support to close the bawdy houses and enforce law.
A July 4 road race from Denver to Laramie is assured with a $1,500 purse. Albany County Cattle and Home Growers association adds 200, Denver merchants 200, and a Denver newspaper 1,000. The finish is at Laramie city hall with amateur bucking contests and judges J Ross Kelly James May Vic Hansen.
The report notes fair weather for the week with above average temperatures. The 24 hour high was 75 degrees and the low 41 at the University of Wyoming observatory with a 2:35 pm wind of 24 mph from the north and no precipitation.

Washington reports a government program to field an air force of 30 000 machines in the flat year. The aircraft production board outlines three classes bombing training and observation craft with engines from American autos and wings built on standard parts. Aviation schools are under construction in Davenport Champaign Detroit and six more to follow. Secretary Baker backs the plan.
W Bungay of Auburn Kansas visits the city for a day with friends. He plans sightseeing and socializing during his brief stay in town.
Washington June 18 the shipping board announced additional contracts for ten complete steel cargo steamers and twenty four wooden bunks. The total contracts now let include twenty eight steel ships, two composite wood ships and thirty wooden ships with other details partly unclear in the fragment.
H M Armstead, sole owner of the former Great Western Glass Co, arrived from Denver and met Laramie stockholders. He outlined steps to assess local resources for a plate glass plant, including July preparatory work, engineers and chemists, and a potential permanent operation if resources prove sufficient. If investigations fail, the project will be dropped.
At three thirty this afternoon two hundred students registered for the University of Wyoming summer session. By day’s end about a dozen more were expected, with total six week attendance unlikely to reach last year’s 207. Fewer men students than normal, but attendees include teachers from Wyoming and beyond seeking productive vacation study.
