Crow Reservation Land Draw Opens to Public

Crow Indian Reservation in Montana containing about one million acres opens to settlers. Registration for the drawing began today at Crow Agency Miles City and Sheridan with hundreds of entries. Registration stays open two weeks and the drawing will be held in Miles City. Lands open for entry July 18.

Quarantine Ordered in Lara mie City For Contagion Control

Health officer A B Hamilton declares certain houses in Laramie Wyoming quarantined to curb contagion. Yellow flags mark residences as cautions while the disease is deemed not highly dangerous and most affected show mild symptoms. Only four flags are displayed currently, two precautionary. Public urged to keep children at home to prevent spread.

Washington reports Senator William B. Allison of Iowa is gravely ill with kidney troubles. The veteran lawmaker has been in poor health for nearly two months and no firm prognosis is given. محد

William Appel Dead in Colorado

William Appel died in Victor Colorado at nearly two years old. He was the son of Ed Appel and the grandson of Conrad Appel of this city. No cause of death was known at the time, and the family said there was no prior illness.

Harry Beckstead charged with attempted criminal assault on 15 year old Vivien Garrison bound over to District Court under 900 dollar bond. The youth and her mother testified that Beckstead entered the girl’s room while she was alone and assaulted her but the mother returned from the sick wife’s bedside and stopped the crime.

Rolling Mill Notes and Local Happenings

The rolling mill reports a test spike to turn out flat iron and states output will be underway at the Fig mill tomorrow. A stool ordered from Pueblo has not arrived though shipment is expected this week. The new heat work for the big mill begins as managers note nearby grounds sprouting with trees bearing leaves.

Moffat Moves to Block UP and Push to Routt County

Denver June 1 Union Pacific plans to push into Routt county from Laramie Wyoming trigger a rapid buildup by Moffat road to block the advance. By July 1 about 300 teams will work toward Yampa from Gore canon with routes through Steamboat Springs Hayden and Crag. Moffat will build on the western side of Gore canon while rock work proceeds to connect four cities of Routt county if necessary.
