Basin Wyoming June 12 Progress on the Burlington's Big Horn railroad toward Worland continues. Most grading is finished and a track crew advances rapidly. Last Friday about 9000 feet of track, just under two miles, was laid in the blow outs ahead of the July 16 Shoshone reservation registration start.

Car Load of Poles for Laramie Telephone Arrives

A carload of cedar poles from Michigan arrived for the Lice Laramie Telephone company in the city. Work to haul them to the line and begin setting poles starts tomorrow. Native poles will replace imported ones where soil contains alkali. Treasurer Ingham reported all materials for the line are on hand and about seven hundred poles are needed to finish the twenty seven miles of holes dug so far.

PURSUIT OF HORSE THIEVES AROUSES ROCK SPRINGS

In Rock Springs Wyoming on June 12 a posse and the paperite pursued three horse thieves believed to be driving a large herd toward the Colorado state line. Alex Logan encountered the trio, demanded his horses, and was forced to retreat as the outlaws drew six shooters. Logan notified officers and pursuit began.

Chas Haberland returns from Colorado claiming right to mining land near Tie Siding. The dispute dates to 1841 when J W Starkworthy, W Millard and H S Bailey sued interlopers Chas Haberland and Wm Noble.
