Rock Springs June 8 striking miners warn they will not permit scabs to work as union Pacific plans to open coal mines Monday. Nonunion laborers from eastern slums arrive by rail, with rumors of possible bloodshed and heavy security precautions as townsfolk brace for potential conflict.
Rumors say a high level meeting in Omaha within days could shape a settlement of the strike that has closed mines and left about 2000 workers unemployed. Union Pacific officials and United Mine Workers leaders including President Joan Mitchel and Thomas Gibson are en route to attend. An unconfirmed report adds that Vice-president and General Manager D Clark may be removed from his post.
The Christi Endeavor of the Presbyterian church presents an evening of entertainment under the direction of Miss Shaw. Tonight’s program at the church includes a millinery sale alongside the main event.
Frank George arrested yesterday on cruelty to animals charges. hearing rescheduled for Monday at 10:00 AM. George released on personal recognizance. State Humane Agent Gough remains in the city to oversee proceedings and assist the prosecution.

In honor of Mies Marguerite Kennedys tenth birthday thirty two friends gathered at the Kennedy home Wednesday evening. The event featured refreshments served by Mrs Kennedy and lasted several hours in a festive celebration of a youngster's milestone.
