Strikers Jubilant Over Talks With Union Leaders

Cheyenne Wyoming December 15 local strikers jubilant after President Burt met with President McNell of the Boilermakers union and Burt left for New York. A nullification meeting was held and plans for future action discussed. Situa tion in Omaha appears brighter. Thirteen Southern Pacific locomotives remain in service between Cheyenne and Laramie but may be recalled or settled with union shopmen. Locomotives were loaned from Milwaukee last week and were used between Omaha and Grand Island for three days before orders to withdraw were given. Mrs JN McPhee and Ther ean McPhee returned from Pueblo after visiting Miss McPhee’s brother.

General and Mrs W H Fishback report their son Willard injured in a mine blast. He was thrown twenty feet, ran 400 feet to the shaft and reached safety with severe leg wounds. Ed N Allen died at his brother’s Boulder Colorado home Saturday night after months of illness. He came to Laramie in 1881 and moved to Denver recently. He left a wife and three living children Florence Howard and Charles and a son Ed from his first wife. He belonged to the Wasatch Tribe of Red Men and Custer Post G A R. First guns fired as British and German forces bombard Puerto Cabello

At Puerto Cabello on December 15 British cruiser Charybdis and German Vineta bombarded Fort Solano and Castle Libertador for 45 minutes. The fortress was silenced and the castle partly captured, with a commander taken prisoner. Civilians were excited but no major damage or injuries reported. Ships searched the harbor for Venezuelan gunboats, while diplomatic efforts between Britain, Germany, Venezuela, and the United States sought satisfactory actions.
