N L Pheoniх, M D Physician Surgeon Accoucher and C T Rodman listed as officials in Landis Saskatchewan with reference to provincial coroner duties and responsibilities.
A Landis school Patriotic Concert in Devaney's Hall featured H A McManus on Patriotism and B E Greenway on the Better Bee Movement. Miss Hindley earned praise for student training as ice cream and cake funded the Patriotic Fund. Prizes were awarded for punctuality and high marks across grades.
All exhibits must be on the ground by 4 o clock on the first day of the fair with livestock on the ground and in place by 9 30 on the second day. Stallion entry fees are $2. Housing for livestock overnight will be arranged. All exhibitors must be Society members except school children showing school work. A parade of prize animals is at 4 o clock on July 27 with forfeit of prize for nonparticipation.
Miss A B Cunningham of Scott visited over the week end. Springwater residents Freeman and Fawcett attended the Red Cross Dance Tuesday night. Presbyterian services resume Sunday at 7 30 p m. Artist H Williams returned from Rochester Minn. Horace is improving. A Belgian sympathizer donated 50 cents to the Belgian Relief Fund. the gift will support two weeks of aid. A R McLean plans a July 7th barn dance with refreshments and Red Cross collection. Landis folk enjoyed fine weather and a trip to Biggar for sports with good results. Han del beat them 6 0. Grenkie family visits Ontario. J Grenkie away for at least a month. Herbert runs business in his absence. About twenty attended the Han del sports on June 29. baseball victory 6 0. Hoffard, station agent, leaves Landis for Asquith. Flynn from Asquith takes charge. Mrs J B Tinant hosted Hindley with whist and luncheon. Hindley wins ladies prize, Cox wins gentlemen’s. Crane Creek Congregational picnic July 15 near Freed’s Farm offers sports, program, and supper. New items include several hand-ins: Nunn, Greakie, Deroche, Bingham, Bell, Hindley, Williams, McLean, Deroche, Nunn pillows donations.
Saturday June 24 a Congregational Church picnic at Swift Current Trail School grounds drew many despite cool weather. Highlights included a tug of war between married and single women with married ladies winning as shoes came off and their feet dug into soil. Tea at 5 30 pm by the Ladies Aid and a young ladies collection topped fifty dollars. total receipts neared one hundred dollars for a new organ.
Private F. J. Whiting reports heavy losses in his unit as comrades die under shell fire. He recalls Col Buller killed while cheering, a comrade missing on a machine gun post, and multiple near misses including a direct explosion near his position. He notes widespread mourning among officers and men.

Miss Belle Gilmer guests of Mrs H R Williams. Mrs Buxton visiting with her son Mr J Buxton left Sunday for the States. Mr and Mrs Kent stopped over Monday while motoring from Wainwright to Asquith. The Misses Laverne and Gladys McHargue visited Biggar on Saturday. Miss M Cunningham and Mrs B T Bennett visited Biggar July 1 at Mises Mable Geary returned from Saskatoon after college holiday attendance.
