Fire destroys home of Mrs Peat near Traynor
Fire yesterday morning totally destroyed the home of Mrs. Peat wife of Sergt Duncan Peat four miles north of Traynor. Mrs Peat and her four year old son barely escaped with their lives. Brother in law Isaac Peat and the others aided in rescue as possessions including an organ phonograph and toys were lost. Neighbors promise help. Sergt Peat is recovering in England.

Landis Masonic Lodge Members Attend Biggar Installation
Landis Masonic Lodge members joined Biggar Lodge for a joint installation with P D D G M James of Biggar presiding. Landis officers named W M H Judd S W Ch Dunbar J W H L Lange Sec S M Martin Treas P McKenzie L G A Hall J D F H Bingham Lyler H R Williams. The Landis group returned home the next day. Also noted were the new Landis school teacher Miss McEachren who started duty yesterday and local rink preparations. A Friday hotel meeting will elect skips and pick rinks. The Springwater Church event on Nov 30 yielded 375 despite stormy weather.
