Death of Major James H H Spencer Uf 8 A retired officer reported in Lander. He died at Alhambra hospital Los Angeles on Sunday November 14. Funeral services held under Bartlett Logan Post No 6 G A R and the Women's Relief Corps. Burial in Arlington National Cemetery. Spencer remembered by old Lander residents for his role during local Indian conflicts. He had been stationed in Port Stambaugh ten years ago during a return visit.
In Wilmington Ohio Nov 21 Oliver Vandervort 32 a local pool hall dealer is jailed on murder charges after a Saturday night triple killing at Cobo. Witnesses include Vandervort’s ten year old son and Bertha Whitlow Vandervort. The gun used remains missing and investigation continues.
Massin Sicily reports a flood disaster sweeping the countryside around Massin and isolating villages. Affected areas include thixity region where homes and lines of communication are destroyed. Hundreds are reported missing or displaced and several dead.
A city meeting led by Frank Prower tasks a committee to mobilize cleanup of streets, yards, and Mt Hope Cemetery. Officials cite snow and debris as health and appearance concerns and urge residents to participate in a cleanup drive soon.
Washington November 21 The deficiency appropriation bill totaling about 104 million dollars was reported by the House appropriations committee. The Navy asked 27 million but received none while the Veterans bureau request of 121 million was allotted 465 thousand dollars.
BR. K B. Werte, general manager of Producers and Harlors, visited the city after a large celebration of turning on the gin at Hives Saturday. Werté expressed enthusiasm for the gin operation. Miverton wore banners, and gas-welders were present, extending about a hour. A grand ball followed the event.
John D Rockefeller and associates face substantial income payments under a Supreme Court ruling. The decision applies to participants in distributions by the Obie Ol company and the Prairie Plant Gas company to stockholders of the Kinoy Pips Line company and the Prairie Pipe Line company.
