Nickerson Led Narrow Escape in 1872 Wyoming Mine Camp Incident

Captain H G Nickerson recalled a 1872 mine camp episode near Lawler Fremont County when a search party was mistaken for Indians. Surrounded by soldiers and scouts, Nickerson signaled with arms raised then led a break to brush where the group was identified and allowed to escape. Colorado miners strike expands to Fremont county mines

Wenver Nov 18 All the Colorado Fuel and Tron company's mines in Fremont county are tied up by a sympathetic strike. No miners reported at Coal Creek Roeckvale Fremont or Emerald mines today. Yesterday 440 were at work. The Trinidad district shows 119 more men than yesterday. Walsenburg area unchanged.

Mary’s Lamb Inspires Lander High Student Skit

A student at Lander Vocational High created a vaudeville style bit about Mary’s little lamb. The act, though clever, did not win credit. the student could stay after school for an hour. The lamb, previously alive, is now dead.

Summers Divorce Granted in Fremont County Court

Yesterday at the Fremont County Court House Charles Summers was granted a divorce from Elizabeth Summers Trowe. Frank May John Stoll and Henry Walker all pleaded guilty to misbranding cattle and were sentenced to the reformatory school at Worland for intermediate terms.

Get-Together Club Meeting At Noon Luncheon

The Get-Together club met at the Noble hotel with strong attendance though few committee reports were ready. Dr W Francis Smith chaired in Agust Dupont’s absence and spoke on highway improvements for Wind River reservation. Members backed the Vocational High School lecture course funding and discussed the Non-Partisan League, defending freedom of expression and predicting the league’s potential decline in Lander.
