Disorders at coal mines in Terre Haute spark violence

Serious disturbances erupted at the Ripley and Kern Coal Companies mines near Terre Haute Indiana. About 300 armed men gathered to march toward the Ripley mine while a group of 100 attacked Kern company workers, overturning coal cars and injuring a man. The Veterans Bureau Clean-Up Squad visited the city offering sessions at the federal building.
