Rural housing rules expand rental units in small towns
The Farmers Home Administration of USDA unveils regulations to boost rural rental housing for elderly and low to moderate income families. Changes include up to 7500000 in mortgage financing per project, no residency rule for borrowers, performance bonds on large projects, flexible construction funding, low interest rates for limited profit borrowers, and 95 percent loan limits with nonprofit 100 percent financing. The plan partners with HUD Section 23 leasing to reach very low income renters, with a 70 million budget now allocated for expansion.
