Pennsylvania Potato Crop Prospects Shrink in August Heat
The Pennsylvania Crop Reporting Service projects a September potato crop of 8,170,000 hundredweight, down 4 percent from a month earlier. If realized, the total would be 10 percent below last year but 15 percent above the 1962-66 average, with a yield near 215 cwt per acre, second only to last year’s 240 cwt. The five year average is 184 cwt.
