FFA 4-H Dairy Show Honors Highlight Regional Winners
At the 17th annual Pennsylvania Southeastern Region FFA Dairy Show in Harrisburg, area members earned top placings. Donald Wenger of Manheim won grand and reserve in Brown Swiss categories, while Jess Balmer of Lititz captured three Guernsey champions including the grand champion.

Lebanon County Plowing Winners at Schaefferstown
The Second Eastern Pennsylvania Horse Plowing Contest at Schaefferstown saw Bill Collison of Harrington Delaware win both the sulky plow and one horse walking plow events with Edgar Messerschmidt of Myerstown second in both. Jacob Mays of Lebanon won the two way riding plow, with top placements for Paul Waltenmeyer of Jamestown in walking and sulky plows.

Farm Calendar Highlights Plowing Contests And Winners
A village audience of about one hundred gathered at the Schaeffer Farm to watch horse and tractor plowing contests. Winners Joseph Schott from Lebanon and Paul Flinchbaugh Jr from Lebanon earned top prizes and advanced to the state plowing contest during Agricultural Progress Days in Somerset County.

Hiestand Retires After Four Decades With Wayne Feeds
Veteran district salesman Hiestand retires August 31 after 40 years with Allied Mills Wayne Feeds in northeastern and south central Pennsylvania.
