Poultrymen Back Board Move to Agriculture Center
Lancaster County Poultry Association members voted 29 to 2 to back the board in moving the Poultry Center from 340 W Roseville Road to the proposed Agriculture Center across the Rt 230 bypass. The motion authorizes the board to complete all negotiations including land damages, relocation of the current building, and use of any remaining funds.

Seventh Annual Feeder Calf Sale Set for Lancaster
The seventh annual feeder calf sale will take place at the Lancaster Union Stockyards on October 27 with an 1 pm start. Grading and grouping of calves are planned for the previous day by County Agent M M Smith and Arthur McArthur for breeders and consignors, with William McCoy representing the Lancaster Livestock Exchange.

Yield Shows Value Of Wheeltrack Planted Corn
Hess harvested most of his corn with a picker shelter and dried to 12 percent moisture. He compared wheeltrack planting with conventional methods after winter discussions with Solanco Young Farmers Association. Hess adopted minimum tillage, plowed and planted portions of his 70 acres to test the new system.

To Pick Corn Variety Plots In Lancaster County
The Lancaster County Agricultural Extension Service will harvest corn variety plots next week described by a Penn State researcher as the state’s most significant. Arnold Lueck notes the plots, begun by Floyd Dutch Bucher and continued by Harry S. Sloat, include 30 varieties all hybrids in 1961. Planted at 18 000 plants per acre, the plots test varieties and population differences for adaptability yield soil type ear placement and season length inviting farmers to inspect.

4-H Honey Club Roundup Honors Beekeeping Talent
A 14 year old Lititz resident claimed the grand prize in the county 4-H bee club roundup hosted at Ralph Gamber’s honey house in Lancaster. Daniel Hershey scored 92 of 100, with Wilma Wenger of Lancaster second at 91 as Judge William Clarke of Pennsylvania State University reviewed the honey exhibit and project book.
