Gilbert Watts Livestock Assn Man of Year
Gilbert S. Watts of Logan Spring Farm Bellwood was named 1977 Livestock Man of the Year at the Keystone International Livestock Expo banquet in Mechanicsburg. A 1918 Penn State graduate, Watts built a notable Angus herd through early genetics testing and a strict culling program. He manages 60 Angus cows on 200 acres and produces seed stock for the industry.

Two youths recognized at PLA dinner
Harrisburg report honors Juniata County 4H member and Lancaster County former state FFA officer as outstanding youths. Baker, 16, Port Royal, earned the award for 4H work with three county beef championships in 1975 1976 1977 and three county swine championships in 1972 1974 1976. She has shown at the Farm Show and Keystone International and held offices in the county 4H beef club and council.

Solanco team places second in national FFA dairy contest
In Kansas City during the Golden Anniversary events, Solanco and Ephrata FFA dairy cattle judging teams delivered top results. Sheryl Bollinger led Ephrata to sixth nationally. the Cloister Chapter finished second by a two point margin to Minnesota. Awards honored 20,000 attendees from all states and Puerto Rico.
