Vernon Martin son of Wr and Wrs Charles H Martin Lititz R2 was elected president of the Manheim Chapter Future Farmers of America at Manheim Central High School. Other officers include Gerald Wattz vice president Warlin Myer secretary David Shonk treasurer John Watrne reporter Clarine Hotter sentinel Glenn Metzler chaplain and Clair Prokbar historian. Assistant officers were named as listed.

Pennsylvania turkey growers will discuss voting procedures for the upcoming referendum on marketing orders at a May 17 meeting sponsored by the Pennsylvania Poultry Federation. The session starts at 2 pm in the Film Show building, Harrisburg, with EC Compton of Standardsville, Virginia, as guest speaker.
Smith argues mounting milk rejections due to off flavors and odors threaten the county. He urges dairymen to pasturize cows, keep pastures clean, ensure well ventilated barns, and feed dry matter to prevent contamination before milking.
Lancaster County 4-H Leaders Councill plans a barbecues to raise proceeds for 4-H club work. Wes Herbert Royer publicity chairman notes the event supports the county 4-H program and continues the annual fundraiser tradition.
Frank Heckel of Penn Dairies in Lancaster was re elected Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Association of Milk Dealers at the Harrisburg convention. He highlighted dairying’s economic importance noting Lancaster County dairies paid over eight and a half million dollars in salaries and wages last year and local dairy farmers received more than 24 million dollars for milk sold.
Dr William Kelso of the Dairy Extension Service will headline the Lancaster County Ayrshire Jersey Brown Swix 4 H club meeting at Spruce Villa Farm Lititz. Members and other interested youth are invited to attend Monday night as part of the regular club activities.
Temperatures over the next five days should run two to six degrees above normal with nights near or slightly below average and afternoons up to 73. A warming trend continues through Wednesday after cool starts through Monday. Precipitation totals range 0.1 to 0.5 inch from scattered showers Sunday through Tuesday.
