Minimum Tillage Planting Of Corn Tried In County
Franklin Myers of Lancaster County tests a no till corn planter on 10 acres hoping to expand to 100 acres next year. The system avoids plowing to conserve soil, reduce field trips, and improve soil structure, with pre emergent weed control and adjustable 34 inch rows for future equipment needs. Ohio tests on salt loam soils show higher yields, about 15 bushels per acre more than conventional methods, attributed to better soil structure and moisture retention.
