A University of Missouri extension veterinarian states there is no vaccine or drug to treat virus pneumonia in pigs. Swine carry the virus indefinitely and spread it across generations. Effective control requires culling infected swine, using virus pneumonia free breeding stock, rotating new boars for six weeks, and enforcing strict isolation with no visitors or trucks in hog lots.
