The 254 attendees marked the largest crowd in at least five years at the District's annual banquet at the Blue Ball Fire Hall. Lester M Weaver of New Holland received the Outstanding Conservation Farmer for 1965 award, with County Commissioner Arthur R Campbell Jr presenting. Campbell also honored Mrs. Eshleman and Mrs. Walters for conservation education efforts through the county Federation of Women's Clubs, noting two Boy Scouts representatives from the County Council.

The Lancaster County Swine Producers Association hosts its annual banquet Friday March 18 at 6 30 pm in the Blue Ball Fire Hall. Wallen Leininger will present an illustrated talk on his South American Livestock Tour after a home supper. Awards entertainment and reports from Penn State specialists will follow. County Growers Seek Solution To Tobacco Woes
A group calling itself the Tri-County Tobacco Growers met Wednesday night at the Moore Farms hatchery on Eden Road Lancaster. They aim to address the worsening county tobacco price situation with two goals: establish price supported quotas for Type 41 tobacco and market the county crop through a central marketing agency controlled by farmers, not buyers.

Lester M Weaver, a New Holland area farmer and longtime SWCD associate director, received the Lancaster County Soil and Water Conservation Districts top honor at the annual cooperators banquet at Blue Ball Fire Hall. He helped organize the New Holland 4-H Soil Conservation Club and led the 4-H Baby Beef Club since 1953.
