Local Winners in State Grange Sewing Contest

The Pennsylvania State Grange home sewing contest drew 1 443 entries from 42 counties marking its 100 year history record. Local winner Mrs Lester Miller of Kutztown RD3 takes class C honors and will advance to the national finals June 14 in New York City. Runners up include Miss Mary Margaret Craft York Haven and Audrey Sell Schnecksville. Mrs Ross Metz Allensville chairs Orange women's activities and directed the contest.

Poultry Ventilation Workshop Slated at Farm & Home Center

A poultry ventilation workshop is set for Tuesday June 20 at the Farm and Home Center in Lancaster. Jay Irwin handles reservations with a $3 fee that includes lunch. The session runs 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eight industry experts will teach on topics from environmental requirements to ventilation design and safety devices.
