Young Lancaster dairyman leads Red Rose DHIA for 1967
Daniel S Stoltzfus of Mount Joy elected to head the Red Rose Dairy Herd Improvement Association for 1967 as the organization reports 650 active members in Lancaster County dairy farming. His 40 cow Holstein herd, with 14 028 pounds of milk and 587 pounds butterfat in a 305 day lactation, ranks among the county’s top DHIA herds. A 20 by 60 foot silo anchors his feeding program on the 1 1/2 acre farm, which he expanded since purchasing it in 1960.

Hearing Set to Establish Base Plan for Dela Valley
The USDA will hold a public hearing in Philadelphia on June 12 to consider amending the Delaware Valley federal milk marketing order covering Philadelphia Wilmington area and much of southern New Jersey. Inter-State Milk Producers Cooperative requests the change to create a base-excess pricing plan to align output with seasonal demand. The base farming period would run July through December each year, applying to milk deliveries in the following period.
