Management Practices Keep This Dairyman Big
Grant Keiffer of Hazelbrook Farms in Southern Lancaster County builds efficiency. After a 1966 barn fire he created a 270 by 86 foot free stall barn and a sealed silo for high moisture corn saving about $1,000 monthly on feed with minimal spoilage. He also expanded calf rearing by converting a tobacco shed into a ventilated calf barn housing 45 to 60 calves with automatic feeding.
