Broiler and Egg Placement Trends Reported Across States
Placements of broiler chicks in the Commonwealth for the week ending July 12 reached 1,088,000, up 17 percent from the year prior and 18 percent from the prior week. Over the last 10 weeks, average placements were 10 percent above a year earlier. Settings for broiler chicks totaled 1,622,000, down 1 percent from the prior week and 1 percent from the year before. The three week egg set total edges slightly above the previous year. Over the past 10 weeks broiler-Cypa shipments averaged 28,000, up 21 percent from a year ago, while outshipments averaged 317,000, up 12 percent. Placements in 22 States were 56,475,000 for the week, up 7 percent from the prior week and from a year earlier. Ten week average placements were 7 percent above a year ago, and settings were 72,114,000, down 2 percent from last week and 6 percent above a year earlier. The three week egg total is 7 percent above the comparable period a year ago.
