Carol Ann Hess 17, daughter of Mr and Mrs Elvin Hess Jr Strasburg R1, was named Lancaster County Dairy Princess at the Lancaster Daily Princess Pageant held at the Host Motel. Miss Personality was crowned Queen for a Year after being chosen by contestants and judged by three judges led by Harry Kauffman. First runner up was Nancy L. Risser 17.

Milk Price Support Raised Again by 50 Cents
The Agriculture Department boosted manufacturing milk price support from 350 to 4 per hundredweight to halt production decline. This second increase since April 1 raises fluid milk prices by about 20 cents per hundredweight for July through next March, affecting Lancaster County farmers shipping to regulated dairies.

Abner Houseknecht of the Soil Conservation Service says technical assistance has reached about 200 farm ponds in Lancaster County with another 200 or more privately built. Many ponds started for fire protection now serve multiple uses, though some remain single purpose.
