Lancaster Trucker Fined by State Agency for Rate Cutting
Oliver H. Sensenig, a Lancaster County trucker, was fined 1000 by the Public Utility Commission for undercutting hauling rates for cattle between Union Stock Yards and Philadelphia. He was ordered to pay within 15 days and stop cutting rates. Competitors had protested pricing practices in 1960 and 1961, including charges of 40 dollars per load instead of 66 and proposed rate reductions. The PUC warned that further violations could revoke his hauling permit.

Managing Non-Layers in Pullet Flocks and Industry Return
Carl O. Dossin notes non-layers may appear after hens start laying and advises poultrymen to decide whether to sell or retain non laying birds hoping they resume profitable production. Overcrowded houses and scarce non laying birds favor marketing those stopped laying. The 1961 iron and steel industry required 87 percent more investment per dollar of sales than in 1951.
