Most Tobacco Sold Last Week In Sudden Rush
An estimated 95 to 98 percent of the 1956 tobacco crop has been sold after a last week buying surge. Prices ranged from 23 to 28 12 per hundred, with the Lancaster County Tobacco Growers Cooperative offering to buy at 20 cents per pound. New celery varieties may replace lost Houser strain
At a Penn State growers meeting on the Funk farm, H-46 selected by Amos H. Funk and Utah 5270 are offered as promising replacements for the Houser celery variety lost during World War II.
