Belted Galloway Cattle Displayed On County Farm
A herd of Belted Galloway cattle, one of only two in Pennsylvania, grazes near Long Lane south of New Danville. Howard Wittel’s Lancaster County farm hosts 11 cows and two bulls from Maine, started four years ago by Nathaniel Saltonstall, headmaster of Lancaster Country Day School. The cattle are hardy, fast gaining beef animals with good flesh, and while they milk well and are strong mothers, their main value lies in meat.
