FMD Advisory Committee to Meet in Washington DC
The Secretary of Agriculture advisory committee on foot and mouth disease will meet in Washington DC on December 17 to review criteria for disease status of infected country areas and plans to combat an outbreak. APHIS notes FMD occurs worldwide except North America, Central America, Australia and New Zealand, and could raise meat and milk costs by up to 25 percent if established here. Winter sports warnings urge proper ear protection due to severe weather exposure.
