The Hershey family operates an 110 acre dairy farm near Columbia R2 with 33 Holsteins yielding 13 912 pounds of milk and 542 pounds butterfat. Nelson Hershey leads herd improvement, upgrades include a new barn, concrete walls, rolling doors, and movable gates to ease cleaning and stock checks. The operation feeds on 30 acres of corn, hay, wheat, barley, and pasture, with 7 800 laying hens supplying eggs and market produce. A 1807 Bear stone on the home barn and a 1773 Bear tobacco shed cornerstone link past to present.
