Scientists at Penn State studying milk fat flavor precursors linked to methyl ketones and lactones. They find these compounds form when fatty acids attach to glycerol to make fats then release with heat or water steam, with precursors influenced by season diet lactation stage and cow breed.
Ammon F. Reiff of Lititz Pennsylvania reserves the prefix Rabbit Hill for all registered Holsteins bred in his herd. The Holstein-Friesian Association of America based in Brattleboro Vermont granted the exclusive use as a herd trade mark. The prefix will be the first part of every animal name and reflects farm name origins.
A chicken barbecue will be held at the Mastersonville Fire Hall by the Fire Co. on Saturday April 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. A full menu will be served and take outs are available. Children's portions also will be served. Graybill Miller will be the barbecuer.
