Discovery Of Practical Telephony Reading Of Morse Letters
A wartime telegraphy advance by Colonel Bellon shows a distant telephone can pick up phonetic impressions from Morse code on a nearby line. After long testing, a system reads each Morse letter by telephone sound, enabling reading messages from a line without tapping signals. This could let wartime intercepts occur without signaling a leak. A curious device for espionage.

Fraud Alleged in Jordan Telepathy Article
President David Starr Jordan of Stanford reportedly authorized claims that his telepathic photography story in Popular Science Monthly was fabricated. A friend says the piece, built on European experiments, presented a fake successful thought photography project with a cat image on a plate. If true, the Monthly may be implicated in the fraud, undermining public trust in Jordan and the publication. The episode suggests either genuine European photoreading results or that Jordan and the magazine are hoaxes, eroding confidence in credible science reporting.
