Fragmented political quips skew reform and vigilante talk
A flurry of satirical notes criticizes the era's politics, praising little reform and lampooning Democrats and leaders. It mentions booms and busts in fashion, foreign and domestic policy quarrels, and missteps in naval actions with hyperbolic humor. The piece jabs McKinley, Cleveland, Morton, Olney, Croker, and officials while noting press suspicions about neutrality laws and pirate-like expeditions.
